Historic preservation demands a restoration contractor that is not only skilled and efficient in the restoration process but has the ability to understand the historical architectural significance, original craftsmanship techniques, and a sense of enthusiasm to restore building and revitalize their use.
Leak detection and the repair of building materials resulting from damage caused by moisture intrusion should be a well thought out process and employ a contractor well experienced in this type of analysis and repair. Schnell Contractors, Inc. can successfully discuss these issues and implement a repair proposal to meet each facility engineer’s budget and provide warrantable solutions for such repairs.
Schnell Contractors, Inc. is proud to be recognized as a leader in the concrete repair industry as well as a quality contractor and valuable resource to structural engineers and consultants in the concrete repair industry.
New construction demands experience, scheduling awareness, and project management skills. At Schnell Contractors, Inc. we can combine all these aspects for the Owner, General Contractor or Construction Manager to assure a successful application.
We had the great opportunity of working with Schnell on the adaptive re-use of the historic Fayette County Courthouse. Given the iconic nature of this building, we needed to have a company that could provide the highest level of conservation, repair, cleaning and artisan level stonework capability. In addition, all work had to conform to the Secretary of Interior's Standards for Historic Preservation since we utilized both federal and state historic tax credits. Schnell performed an excellent job and meticulously addressed every detail, including chemical analysis to determine the mortar composition in order to ensure the color, texture, strength and durability were not only appropriate but also consistent with the original material. They did the same with the careful cleaning of the limestone. The ultimate result of their efforts has produced a sparkling renaissance of this exemplary building which has now returned to its epicenter as the focal point of Lexington, Kentucky.”
